Tuesday, April 2, 2024 - This isn't exactly what I would think of as a classic example of Assyrtiko, because it doesn't have the classic, Volcanic, Santorini notes... but this is really delicious. Very pale in the glass... like more clear than Chasselas and other Alpine wines. There's a slight mineral note to this, but it's a bold, fruit forward, wine... with a ton of restraint. Structurally, this is built on Med++ acidity and intensity of fruit. More on the citrus side, but there's a slight melon tone, with a light floral note, this does all the best things of, maybe, an Albariño... but a little better. Not something I would want to age, but I do want it with some raw fish, with the sun shining on me. The triumph and tragedy of this wine is that it's $22, but you can only get two bottles per vintage. In an alternate universe, I would grab two cases.
