Thursday, March 6, 2014 - First bottle of Rioja for myself, such a nice introduction and quite a stylish wine. Translucent red core with brown rim. Bouquet of prune, warm fruit cake, wet wood, dried herbs and a tiny bit of minty scent in the back. Light to medium mouth feel, very smooth and so easy to drink. Red cherry notes up front, with mushroom, tobacco leaf and orange peel bitterness follow, very interesting. Tannins are quite softened and with a finish of dried prune and tea leaf. A really delicious wine.
