Saturday, October 19, 2019 - Marchant blind tasting. The 2004 was served in a pair next to the 1998. Dark ruby with purple hue, rich, ripe, lots of raspberry bonbon, toast, vanilla. The 1998 showed additional cassis notes. Ripe wines but the acidic balance works here. I rarely drink wines this ripe, so I was pretty clueless what it was. Wrote down “probably something like a Carrignan or Malbec from South America”. Unico it was. Score higher if you like this style.
