Sunday, May 17, 2015 - Opened a couple hours before serving but elected not to decant. Nose effused dark berries, earth, bramble, and a dose of anise. Fruit was fresh, medium weight, almost light, but had surprising depth of flavor. This is not a soft wine, rather its acidity and tannins border on rustic, but for me was pleasurable and balanced. Paired with a ramp risotto finished with robiola and fried egg, this wine sung as the structure was needed and won over Nancy who is rusticity-averse. Could easily hold for years.
