Saturday, March 9, 2013 - We decanted the wine for one hour before we poured the first glass. It was very dark ruby in colour and offered plum, cherry, blackberry, blueberry, cedar and chocolate on the nose. On the palate the wine showed cherry, some plum, blackberry, blueberry, coffee, chocolate, some vanilla and some oak spiciness, paired with surprisingly good acidity for the vintage (medium-plus), medium-plus ripe, sweet tannin and very good length. The full- to medium-bodied wine was very round, ripe and heavily oak-influenced. A modern and international-style wine. Very good and well-made in its category, but to me it lacked personality. Also, I found it difficult to pinpoint it as Brunello. Drink now through 2016. I would recommend decanting for 1.5 hours.
