Tuesday, July 21, 2015 - My seventh or eighth experience with this wine, all courtesy of R&D, and one of the best. Deep crimson color with only the slightest bit of bricking at the meniscus. An initial aroma of dried hay faded away leaving black currants, dried plum, dusty earth, dried leaves/forest floor. Nicely integrated showing a mix of red and dark fruit and earth, but has a slight austerity. At the half hour mark, a lovely herbal, dried mint note emerged, but this really began to open and strut its stuff at the one hour mark. Notes of florals, black fruit, dried herbs and forest floor. Earthy black fruit, tobacco, leather and dried herbs on the palate. A lovely match for the rack of lamb with plenty of life ahead.
