The fruit was insufficient to balance the alcohol content. After an hour or two this situation seemed to correct itself. Maybe some fruit emerged from hiding. This prompted me to raise the wine's score a bit. To me, the ideal Condrieu would emerge from the bottle with even more powerful tropical fruits and perfume, but I may be something of a plebian in that respect. Other than the heat, it's hard to fault this wine.
