Saturday, December 11, 2010 - HDH auction tasting at Tru; 12/10/2010-12/11/2010 (Chicago, IL): Pale gold. Creamy nose, notes of toasted bread, coconut, citrus, and white Burgundian funk. Slightly musty, but in a very attractive sort of way. On the palate, this is subtle, and extremely concentrated. Lots of citrus, piercing acidity, and somehow at the same time a palate-coating texture. Not pushy, but shy, and I will guess that this needs much more time to develop; I'm waiting for that Burgundian funk to come out even stronger. Long. Served with three types of French fries (duck fat, truffle, and garlic herb).
