Marginally better than the 1998 Reserve I opened a few nights ago, this one had a similar nose of ripe plums and spice, but not quite so exotic and volatile. It was, however, better on the palate, balancing fruit and acid better. Decanted and aired for quite a while, it did knit together somewhat, but never got through flaws of sour tartness and not enough fruit.
