88 Points

Thursday, December 1, 2005 - This was not a great example of this wine, and I have certainly had better on several occasions. It opened up very quickly and nicely, a little shy on the nose, yet bold with cassis and some spicy, slightly green (Bay leaf?) on the palate. Still fairly firm in the character of the vintage, for about an hour it was pretty loving actually. Unfortunately, then it either faded or clamped down with the fruit disappearing and the tannins coming to the fore, showing a lot more astringency. Slightly rasphy and bitter, where did the wine go here? I wanted to give this a higher score, but that was this bottle.
