Sunday, September 1, 2013 - I bought a couple of bottles of 1978 G.Roumier Chambolle-Musigny out of France recently and popped a bottle on Saturday night. It had a magnificent perfume of roses, freshly tilled earth and summer berries macerating in sugar. It was full, sweet and generous in the mouth, filling every crevice with sweet fruit tinged with savoury earth. It was lacy, built in the mouth and really fanned out at the finish. Length of flavour was superb. I think this probably had a fair bit of 1er Cru material in it back then but it is probably the best Village wine I have ever had.
