Thursday, September 17, 2009 - A surprisingly open nose of red raspberry, plum skin, graham cracker and a little damp earth. The palate tightens things up with the addition of apple peel and brighter red berry. The finish shows strong acids and good length but is a little light on fruit and texture. Over a couple of hours the earthiness transformed into a dusty campfire note and the palate softened a little, revealing a dark, herbal, peppery spice. Very nice but needs another 2-3 years.
