I always try each vintage on purchase, the nose is not huge, but shows tarry, pure dark kirsch, slight mushroom and bit of alcohol
but the palate is just wow!violets, cherries, mushrooms, and the longest silky plushness, goes for a long time and glides down with complexity. this is the real deal and has the texture which exceeds recent vintages, tannins are in there but are masked with all the fruit, shows the glycerin that I recall from 89

not a huge bruiser either, but needs 10-15 years ( that is after just drinking a perfect bottle of 89)
