Saturday, September 12, 2020 - Nice wine. Drinkable as soon as it was opened. I'd drink it again, but I am unsure it's worth the price.

5/4/2021 2:51:00 AM - Fair point. I was blown away by the bottle I drank recently. I stretched it over a period of three days, and it just kept getting better and better. But when I tried to restock, I learned that the uptick in its price reflects its quality. I guess there is no simple answer to the question if a single bottle of wine is worth €100 plus or not...

5/4/2021 7:58:00 AM - @PSPatrick. The 07 Beaucastel was outstanding. See my note from 4/1/21 last month. Unfortunately almost impossible to source more bottles in Canada. You had a comment about price. I'd be ok paying 100euro.

5/4/2021 8:30:00 AM - @boomecho: I have a love-hate relationship with CdP as some turn raisiny as they age (a flavour profile I dislike) and fall apart too early. But the 2007 Beaucastel is on the "love" side, beyond fantastic. I sourced two additional bottles at around €100 each, the wine is worth that much to me. And I can see why you would be happy to pay that price being from Canada... to good bottles!

5/4/2021 8:55:00 AM - Ha! Funny to see this thread. Quick side note, my comment on price was thoughtful, not skeptical. Enjoying wine at the right time has certainly become a more pricey exercise between timing of purchase, storage, opportunity cost, and then there's the auction market. My very recent dabble in St. Emilions certainly has exasperated this.... When I did enjoy the CdP, I definitely said to myself I wish I had purchased more than 1 bottle at an early price. Cheers!
