Monday, June 29, 2015 - The last bottle of Catoir Rieslaner in my cellar, and it goes out on a really high note. Definitely among the best of the bottles I've opened; a bright orange-gold colour, and an intoxicating fragrance combining ripe apricot and pineapple fruit with honey and higher toned ginger, horseradish, and other spicy notes. As usual it's intensely sweet and rich on the palate, more Beerenauslese than Auslese, but wow, there's incredible acidity beneath and a long finish that stays long after each sip. Stunning wine that leaves me wishing I had bought more of the HGS Rieslaners, and not just the Scheurebes and Rieslings.
