Sunday, March 27, 2011 - Another winner from Dönnhoff, this one had an engaging nose that featured sweet perfume of cherries, lemon-lime, honey and a hint of petrol. The fruit on the palate was honeyed and lush with prominent candied lime and a touch of saline. I would have enjoyed it even more had the nervy tension between the sweetness and acidity been cranked up a few notches. Overall, the wine was a little sweeter than I would have liked, though this was still an enjoyable Spätlese that made a fabulous pairing with spicy Thai food.
