Wednesday, August 2, 2017 - My honey got me a pair of Zweisel Enoteca burg glasses for my bday -- arrived today and needed something special to christen them with. I try to always keep at least one vintage of Thea's (6 y/o daughter's name is Thea) Selection on hand for special occasions, so here we are.

Pretty amazed at how young this is showing -- going to be a 20-year pinot for sure. Not a hint of bricking, and coiled up tight off the pop. Even in the big glasses, this took 30-45 minutes to unfurl and hit its stride. Once it does, it's sour cherry, baking spices, plum, wet soil/leaves, celery, paint thinner, and bittersweet chocolate. Complex, balanced, and elegant. Drink or hold.

Thea, if you stumble upon this when you grow up, you've shown me joy beyond my wildest dreams, and I celebrate you tonight, and every night, forever.
