90 Points

Sunday, May 25, 2008 - Drank at Edmund and Shuming's. 2000 is not my favourite vintage for Cote de Nuits reds, but this showed okay. Wine was turning garnet / orangey. The nose was very mute at first, but with a lengthy decant, opened up nicely to show morel mushrooms, savoury Brands Essence of Chicken, earth notes and a hint of flowers. Lots of cherry on the palate, slightly stewed flavours, and a pretty good finish with some spice and a flush of heat. A bit straightforwad, but this had some power and focus, and was well structured, with good balance (perhaps needing just a little more acid) and poise.
