Thursday, September 1, 2011 - In an attempt to find value-Burgundy (perhaps per se a contradiction in terms....), I tried this basic AOC Bourgogne from a top producer. Quite standard colour. Surprisingly good nose with a hint of fruit as well as tertiary notes like mushrooms. On the palate rather subdued, although the mid-palate is firm. Not lingering for long, though. I think the last bottles will be enjoyed for what they are, and no more bottles of this one will be added. It did no harm to the pheasant breasts I had for dinner.
