Friday, January 26, 2007 - I have to agree with R P on this one. 98 is ezackaly what popped into my mind on the first sip of this monster! cold night, drove to our country house, wanted something yummy to drink to erase the 2 hour drive... a bit of a splurge but oh boy - revelation/realization - I dont drink good port often enufff!
right outta the bottle - pours like unfrozen concentrated grape juice, super viscous, almost glass staining. hits you with blueberry and blackberry liqueur, there is a flinty graphite (i don't get any smoke) in a slightly tongue drying tannins/alcohol, almost as if there was a bit of fine powder in the texture. This came right out of my cellar so its at 55F, and just starting to open up. I cannot imagine what this will be like in 10 more years. This was my 13th bottle - always looked forward to trying the one not in the case, but surely made me happy I bought the case.
