Sunday, May 31, 2009 - Very dense, dark rubi red. The nose is seductive and yummy, but you can tell that oak is doing its thing. Don't get me wrong, the nose is very nice. It does show some scents of blackberry and black currant, and like I said, oak driven. Sure enough, the palate is very oak driven as well. However, it delivers good quality fruit, dark berries, burnt coffee bean, vanilla bean, very nice acidity and grip on the palate, maybe some sour cherries, tobacco and cedar box at the end, along with black pepper that lingers longer than long. I just wish this wine had less oak. It is quite overly oaked. Too bad.. quality is also good, but under exposed.
