Wednesday, May 17, 2023 - Beginning our tasting with the 1998 Château Calon-Ségur, we had high hopes considering how well the 1998 Château Léoville Barton showed just last week. Immediately greeted by a highly aromatic nose, notes of leather and tobacco were evident. With a lot of fruit intact on the palette, the blackcurrant lasted for two of the three glasses we had, accompanied by pronounced smoke and cedar before licorice came in during the finish. An extremely elegant wine that showed the class of the château for the duration of the bottle.
