Sunday, July 3, 2016 - As with the last bottle, a distinct pop of the screwcap on opening.
Pale lemon gold. Some tiny bubbles clinging to the side of the glass.
A very muted nose, with just a bit of peachy fruit and some sulphur.
There's a clear sweetness on the palate, along with a hint of spritz. Lacking acidity - there's nothing to balance the sweetness. Doesn't develop at all in the mouth: quite simple and uni-dimensional.
This is a Spätlese, but with an almost Auslese sweetness, but without any balancing acidity. Which is not to say it isn't still good drinking. But it's not as good as it should be.
