Thursday, July 22, 2021 - Sadly, the 1997 Whitehall reserve is falling off, although still shows some of its former greatness. Perfumed nose with lots of high-toned red fruit, followed by a muted, slightly secondary palate with emerging notes of truffle and dark earth, souring into old shoe leather on the finish. Recently drank a 2001 Reserve and a 2001 NV, and both are in considerably better shape and look to hold on for a few more years. This one, I'd drink up.
