Sunday, January 3, 2010 - This was a great Sonoma pinot, aged, very mature and probably on the tail end of a great drinking window. This is one of the older non-Burg pinots we have had and this wine really showed the potential of this grape varietal off well. Enjoyed as the first wine of the evening with a great stuffed beef tenderloin dinner New Year's day with good CT wine buddies neighborbill and sidboy. Popped, poured and enjoyed - very impressed with this, too expensive to be a good QPR wine but definitely recommend this and would also recommend drinking up any remaining holdings soon because I don't see this getting any better. Dark, silky smooth and balanced, still plenty of fruit left, initially slightly musty, luscious mouth feel with great aftertaste. Nose darker then expected for a pinot with dark fruit, burnt sugar and pepper, primary flavors very balanced with a hint of oak, dark stone fruit, coffee and smoke on the aftertaste.
