94 Points

Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - The color shows maturity, but that is not represented in the wine, which is still youthful. On the nose, the perfume pops with extremely ripe, Port like aromas, with figs, black cherry liqueur, burnt toast and blackberry jam notes. On the palate, the wine is thick, fat, intense, concentrated, and lush. The wine feels like Port on your palate. It is long and packed with black cherry liqueur on the palate. The oak is slightly noticeable in the finish. After 5 hours in the decanter, the wine did not budge. It will be interesting to see how this ages. It could go either way, but for now, it gets the benefit of the doubt. This is a unique style of Hermitage that other wines will never deliver. With a total of 3,994 numbered bottles for sale, it's not an easy wine to find in the marketplace.
