Saturday, August 4, 2012 - An excellent cork beneath an intact wax capsule, this poured a mature ruby with slightly tawny edges. However, the nose was vigorous, featuring red fruits (mostly red currant), cassis, subtle oak spice and a touch of earthiness. Decanted for 2 hours prior to pairing with grilled, oven-finished NY strip steaks. Medium-full bodied on the palate, less mature than I anticipated. Good concentration and push through the mid-palate, ending with a 20+ second finish. Tannins still present on the finish, though largely resolved. This was better than expected, and should remain good for several more years.
