Tuesday, December 27, 2022 - Slow oxed for four hours. Should have decanted as last glass lost to the mud. It had good colour at the core with bricking at the edge. This smelt exactly as you’d wish from the off. Rich dark fruit and some black olive brine. Perfumed lift and no mustiness. In the mouth red fruit, quite fresh and lifted, spice and a metallic tang. Powerful. Fruit was very present and quite ripe still. Flavours rolling along and finished with a meaty, plummy edge and touch of perfume. Is it floral? Not sure. This was super, everything I’d want from a Christmas bottle. Seemed young compared to the vgi ‘89 we had earlier in the year (which was overall a better bottle).
