Tuesday, August 25, 2015 - Decanted and consumed over 4 hours, and it needed all 4. Massive wine, with a potent cassis aroma. Hints of Christmas spice and dried flower accompany. Extremely round tannin structure leads way to a stunning sweet blackberry palate. Shafer HHS has always been a favorite of mine, and a bottle of a challenging vintage like 2006, proves that they can yield amazing results even in the tough years.
