Sunday, January 1, 2012 - Mick Unti is an underestimated wine maker. His wines are complex, full bodied and with, thankfully, good aging potential. Enjoying a 2005 vintage in 2012 California is a luxury and should not be understated. Deep ruby colour, good acidity and remnant tannins with a little residual oak. The varietals complement each other as they should with a good Rhone blend. Berry fruits and plums but a bit weak on the nose. It probably could have benefitted with a little more time to open up but I am impatient. Overall very good. Think ahead with Mick Unti wines and you will not be disappointed. I strongly recommend Unti at all times. Cheers.
