Sunday, February 11, 2024 - This was good out of the gate and got somewhat better as it opened. Decanted for about 2 hours and it had lovely aromatics, pure fruit, and was a good match with pork tenderloin in mushroom sauce. Had it along side a 2002 Jadot Bonnes Mares. The Jadot was a bit more muscular and complex but I really admired the Volnay’s elegance and purity of expression. Not sure I would pay the current rate on these, but happy I bought it on release.
