Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - Very opaque violet and garnet. Nose was nice, dark blue fruit, cinammon, a little funk. But, unfortunately the fruit did not carry over on the palate, a bit absent, with the mid palate carried by all spice, tar, oak/vanilla before the tannins kicked in and it finished out bone dry. I think this may have been a bit closed down with the way the fruit behaved despite being decanted for 14 hours. Otherwise, it was also a bit out of balance with the heat overwhelming the finish.
