Monday, January 26, 2009 - Glunz Wines Winter Portfolio tasting (union league club, chicago IL): nose: very bold and rich nose with all sorts of black spices, black cherries, anise, and loads of various dark berry tones. Very big nose that you'd expect from a loring pinot. There is no elegance here, but more brute force

taste: Big and rich with full body giving off tones of blackberries, black spices, all sorts of dark mixed berries and some bits of anise

overall: while the opposite of what I normally like from a pinot, this is an outstanding wine. Great complexity and depth. Not neccessarily over the top, but definitely extracted bordering on sensory overload, but it does bring it back a bit
