Wednesday, September 26, 2018 - This took a little time to open up. The nose oozes sex - exotic and toe-curling with marzipan, sweet fruit, maraschino cherry, game and saline. Some well integrated oak - vanilla. There's a tropical fruit aroma in the background that adds to the depth (3-D) and complexity. I've seen this combo before in Chevillon wines and I'm starting to get the hang for the house style. The Palate is open and oozing - beautiful fruit and spice, marzipan, dark red berries, black cherry, Banana - exotic and intense. Gripping. Builds - almost heavy as finish approaches, some oak, but just great. Such wonderful mouthfeel and flavors, great intensity while vibrant and lively. Probably approaching peak but not quite there yet - maybe 5 yrs more and then a long long plateau. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5-5.5/6, Finish - 5-5.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17-18/20. (18-18.5/20 potential).
