Thursday, December 4, 2008 - WOW!! i had heard alot about this wine and had been trying to ge tmy hands on the 2004 to no avail. finally settled on the 2006. this wine is dense, from the nose to the palate. nose has dark toasted chocolate with a touch of liquorice. its complex and had me sniffing it over and over to make heads or tails of all the difference nuanced flavors that came through. the berry snuck through. your first sip makes you realize you have something special, its big, it hedonistic, its new world, its in your face and it begs you to take another sip. if you like Alto Moncayo, you will love this wine. the QPR is fantastic. lay it down for a couple years if you can keep your hands off it, it will be further rewarded as the already silky tannins mellow further.
