Sunday, March 18, 2012 - I love aged Cabernet. Some age on the rim. Purchased directly from LWS 7 years ago. Mold on top of cork and wine stains half way up the cork, but the wine is pristine. Decanted three hours. Complex nose kept evolving, but primarily cedar and plums. Palate offers a refrain of cedar followed by tobacco, leather and graphite and a short finish that stops dead short with dry, tongue-coating tannins. Suggests this may hold for another 3-5 years and improve. Margaux elegant. Tannins were a great foil to grilled garlic peppercorn filet mignon and grilled baked potato.
