Sunday, December 23, 2012 - Opaque purple in the glass with a ruby rim and just a sliver of a translucent edge. Pronounced nose of black cherries, oaky vanilla, and a touch of anise. Initially a silky attack reinforces the cherries, and quickly becomes dusty with medium tannins and enough acid to keep it taut as the cherries turn to anise and segues into something akin to tobacco on the medium length and slightly smoky finish. Excellent maturing wine with a number of years to go.
