Friday, November 24, 2006 - I have had this wine many times now, and the notes are pretty consistent. The '02 Beaux Freres pops out at you from the glass with an exotic perfume of amber, currant, minerals, and is largely dominated by dark red rose. When you first smell it you could mistake it for soap because the flower/rose is so dominant in the glass. The texture is a little rough and the finish dries out a little, which prevents it from being a truly outstanding wine. This wine rewards (and needs) heavy decanting 2+hrs.
