Saturday, January 20, 2007 - Decanted for 90 minutes. Color was beautiful, more garnet than ruby. Extremely attractive nose of redcurrants, mulling spices, and leather that I hoped would portend good things for the palate. Good news, as the palate was a medium-bodied beam of raspberry, strawberry, pepper, and cinnamon with lots of verve and just enough refreshing acidity. Tannins and fruit were well-balanced, and the finish was moderate and sweet. The decanter emptied quickly! Showing very well at this early stage, definitely greater than the sum of its component parts.
