Friday, September 23, 2016 - A very good and now mature and ready to drink Aussie shiraz that at this point in maturation is in no way subtle but with age has softened, become much more cohesive and balanced and at this point is not overly fruity or jammy. A good QPR wine. Would recommend a longish decant - it was open and drinking well after about 3 hours in the decanter and after overnight refrigeration and re-warming was still drinking superbly the next evening. This has many years to go with proper cellaring. Very dark purple, big, full bodied, fruit forward as expected but also rather well balanced and definitely not a monolithic jammy fruit bomb at this stage of maturation. Nose slightly sweet, warm, dark and round with dark fruit, blackberry, allspice and a hint of eucalyptus with a flavor profile of as expected of intense but controlled / balanced dark stone fruit, coffee and plum up front with a more earthy and meaty finish. Definitely recommend this wine.
