99 Points

Monday, June 6, 2011 - Opened this for my birthday and finished the evening with a 1998 d'Yquem.

This wine is special, perhaps one of the finest CdP's i have ever tasted and given its youth, the best at this age ever. I have tasted and collected a number of '07 CdP's and this is the best to date.

We decanted for about two hours, sipping it along the way and out of the gates you could tell this was Secretariat in liquid form. The color is great, the nose complex and robust. The first sip gives rise instantly to how good this wine is. There were four wine drinkers at the table drinking this for the first time and we all agreed - fruit driven, long lasting, and bursting of a panoply of rapidly evolving tastes. Mouth watering. Balanced. Full-bodied. Succulent. The adjectives kept coming and the only negative thing i can say is that i only had one bottle. The greatest struggle I will have will be sitting on the other 11 bottles in my cellar. This is going to be a great wine to watch mature over the next decade + if i have the will power to wait that long.

I rated it a 98 only because i dont believe anything can be perfect - which keeps me searching and searching.

This should be a bottle on your bucket list.
