Saturday, December 15, 2012 - We decanted the wine for 45 minutes before we poured the first glass. It was dark ruby in colour and looked pretty youthful. The wine showed blueberry, blackberry, black currant, Brussels sprouts and a vegetal component on the nose. On the palate the wine offered sweet dark fruit, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, raspberry, Brussels sprouts, spices and lots of tobacco, paired with medium-level acidity, chewy tannins and very good length. The heat from the alcohol was out of balance. A good bottle of wine, but it lacked the balance I am looking for. Also, I preferred e.g. the Capaia 2007, the Meerlust Rubicon 2006 and even the De Toren Z 2004, all at a lower price, so the QPR of the Morgenster disappointed me a little bit. Would probably not buy again. 89+
