Tuesday, May 17, 2011 - Drank in the 4th flt. of a large, mainly Lignier and Ponsot Clos de la Roche/St. Denis dinner. This flight also included the '99 Chezeaux/Ponsot St. Denis and the '99 Lignier Roche. The Ponsot Roche was a bit drier and had a little more truffle on the nose than the Lignier, but all 3 wines in this flight were very similar and it was difficult to distinguish between them other than some stylistic signatures that made the Lignier stand out to me. These '99s are lush, rich, sweet, and dense. All great wines. I give a slight edge to the Lignier, but others at the table preferred the other two.
