95 Points

Thursday, November 2, 2006 - This wine was terrific! Deep purple, it was great within 15 minutes of decanting. With plums and cassis on the nose it proved to be quite complex on the palate. The tannins were sweet and well integrated; acidity present but subdued. It carried through the meal effortlessly. Notes of black fruits including plums, currants were experienced with a hint of leather and spiciness. There was something else present that I am at a loss to describe just now. Well, I guess that I will have to drink another bottle.
I have had the '98 Maya on a couple of occasions in the past but this proved more accessible and much more satisfying.
