Sunday, September 16, 2012 - Bottle was showing signs of seepage, so i decided to pull the trigger on the first of two. Cork was exceptionally soft and streaked through, so my suspicions were correct. I don't know if its time is up or the fact that there was a cork problem, but the best sip of this wine was its first, and that is the basis of the score. On first taste, I got creamy blue fruits that faded to chocolate/leather over the course of a few hours. I left the bottle open for about an hour then double decanted back into the bottle; I think that on the remaining one, I will not do that. My preference is for the younger, fruit driven wine, but if you like a mature cali cab, this one is a great option.
