Friday, May 8, 2015 - Paper filtered and decanted leaving a base of sediment and pebbles in the filter and yielding a brilliant ruby liquor with fresh aromas of ripe red fruits and an undercurrent of bramble. Perhaps because we'd just finished a bottle of 2004 Ken Wright Guadaloupe Pinot Noir which was mind-blowingly good, and, because we'd had solo bottle of this a week or so ago, it didn't seem as intensely flavored as the first bottle obviously had. Yes, there was an explosive quality to the palate, and the bright fruit and underlying acidity made the wine luscious and mouth watering (literally), but the magic of the underlying dried strawberry sensibility which the first bottle had just wasn't there. A good wine, but, the other bottle was truly great.

So it is... same vintage, same vineyard, same wine maker, same barrel, same cellar - different result.
