Friday, September 5, 2014 - This deep garnet wine was tasted in double-blind fashion, with the bottle kindly provided to our tasting group by J.P. The nose shows intense aromas of pipe tobacco, red currants, vanilla and leather. Medium-bodied and with medium acidity on the palate, it frames red fruit, chocolate and earth flavors with medium-weight, silky-textured tannins. The alcohol (listed as 14%) is nicely integrated and the middle palate is solid. Closing smooth and with medium length, this is a Brunello which is drinking beautifully at this point. It should continue to provide pleasure for another 5-7 years. Drink now-2021.
