Thursday, December 25, 2008 - To borrow a sports metaphor, this bottle is in its prime. Perfectly smooth, no rough edges whatsoever. Moreover, it still has considerable flavor remaining. The tannins are fully resolved (as one might expect), and the fruit has integrated beautifully. Nose not all that strong, but its great going down :-).
The cork was wet almost to the top, but there was problem with leakage and so forth. I can't imagine that more time will do this bottle any good. It might stand up for a few more years, but I see no reasons to do this. I have another and I will be drinking it relatively soon.
This an excellent aged Bordeaux that has not faded.

Also, I would not decant this wine. I let it breathe for about 30-45 min, which seemed to be enough. After this, it continued to open through the meal, but I had the sense that a big decant would knock out too much of the flavor.
