90 Points

Tuesday, January 4, 2011 - For what's currently showing, it's well-balanced and well-made. Frankly, though, it's entirely shut down. After and 1+ hour of decanting we were beginning to get a few floral notes (rose petals mostly) and by the end of the night finally getting a little bit of fruit. For a novice, they might not taste this as Pinot Noir. It's quite grippy and big on the palate. This makes sense, as it's made entirely from the Pommard clone. Impression at the end of the night (and all 08 Ken Wrights that I've opened) is that it needs to be but away for 5-10 years. Not a very encouraging statement...I know. The wine will be there; it's just not there yet.
