Friday, March 9, 2012 - Some bricking on the edges with a cloudy garnet coloration. Nose opens with a smokey, leather lead pencil bouquet. Nose quickly develops to include smokey red fruits and black currents. Decided not to decant due to its age. Comes into the mouth with an elegant smooth flavor of lite red berries, the mildest hint of tobacco, oak and ceder. Much lighter than a typical vintage of this great wine due 1987 not being a stellar year. Glad I opened it, because it only would have gone downhill. Score would have been higher if I drank it earlier.
